British Standards for copper and fibre cables, such as BS 6701, 50173 and 50174, establish guidelines for the performance, installation, and testing of data cabling systems. These standards ensure that cables meet specific requirements for reliability, safety, and performance in a variety of environments.

Adhering to these standards is crucial for certifying new data cable installations because it guarantees that the system will function optimally, support high-speed data transmission, and minimize risks such as signal interference or electrical hazards. Compliance with British Standards also helps ensure that the installation is future-proof, compatible with evolving technologies, and meets legal or regulatory requirements, providing peace of mind for both the installer and the end user.

Norfolk Data Cabling are an accredited Excel Cabling Partner and authorised to provide a 25 year product and application warranty on all Excel copper, fibre optic and Environ racks when installed as part of a complete Excel Solution. We also provide Certification and Testing services for new cabling installations completed by others and existing infrastructure in the event a fault occurs. We work with many who may install their own infrastructure but don't have the necessary equipment to splice, terminate or certify.

The following are a few of the most common High Level Testing that we provide:

Copper Certification - Certify CAT5e, 6, 6A, 7, 8.1, 8.2 and see network compliance showing all network types the link is capable of supporting up to 40 Gigabit Ethernet.
Fibre Optic Certification – Tier 1 certification. Voltage testing for hybrid powered fibre. Show network compliance for a variety of fibre networks including 100GBASE-LR4, 40GBASE-LR4 and Fibre Channel.
Wired Network Connectivity Testing - Quick visibility into connected devices with drill down to gain more detail about those devices. Understand connectivity with switch detail including Slot/Port/VLAN, handy troubleshooting tools including Traceroute, ping, cable toner.
Wireless Network Connectivity Testing - See all available Access Points (APs) and their signal strength, verify login to AP, see roaming signal strength, handy troubleshooting tools including Traceroute and ping.
